According to reports, Jenny Craig has informed its employees that it will shut down its establishments throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Internal documents obtained by NBC News reveal that Jenny Craig, a company specializing in weight loss and management with nine locations in Nassau and Suffolk counties, informed its employees of an imminent closure.
As per the report, the company conveyed through an email on Tuesday night that it will shut down "due to difficulties in obtaining more funding". The employees who are salaried corporate and field workers will have their last day on May 5. As for the center workers, who are hourly, their last day was already on Tuesday.

- Freeport
- Centereach
- Commack
- Garden City
- Valley Stream
- Huntington Station
- Massapequa
- Hicksville
Jenny Craig has around 500 locations across the United States, with its headquarters situated in Carlsbad, California. The program provided by Jenny Craig assists individuals in maintaining weight loss by providing a structured system accompanied with support. The program includes access to nutritional meals such as entrées, snacks, and desserts, in addition to individualized coaching.
The first Jenny Craig Weight Loss Center was established in 1983 by Jenny Craig and her husband Sid, who has since passed away.
According to WPVI's report on Monday, the chain had informed its workers that it might close its corporate offices as soon as Friday and slash a large number of jobs. The television station mentioned that the firm had indicated that it was moving towards an e-commerce structure.
