Brentwood Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Mother to Death in Brentwood
Suffolk County Police arrested a 30-year-old Brentwood man for allegedly murdering his mother earlier this week in their Brentwood home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
On Tuesday evening, police received a call 911 call reporting that a woman had been stabbed at 55 West White Street in Brentwood at 5:24 p.m. When officers arrived, they found, Melida Velasquez, 59, deceased in the home with stab wounds.
Following an investigation, Homicide Squad Detectives charged Jason S. Kurmuoglu 30, of the same address, with Murder 2nd Degree. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct, and had a court date scheduled for Thursday September 11, at the First District Court in Central Islip.
