LONG ISLAND, NY — A desperate race against time is underway as AlleyKattz Inc., a nonprofit cat rescue organization, urgently appeals to the community for $1,700 to help secure a safe haven for two rescued cats who could otherwise be returned to the outdoor conditions rescuers worked so hard to remove them from.
According to an urgent update shared by the rescue organization, the two cats are currently being temporarily housed in cages inside a garage after having to leave a veterinary office.
The temporary arrangement is only available until Tuesday morning, October 20, leaving rescuers with very little time to secure the funding necessary for a safer, more permanent placement.
Without additional financial assistance, the organization fears it may have no choice but to return the cats outdoors.
A Desperate Effort to Keep Two Cats Safe
AlleyKattz Inc. says the cats were not safe in their previous outdoor environment, making their rescue and placement especially important.
After leaving the veterinary office, the cats were reportedly close to being released back outside before someone stepped forward to provide temporary shelter.
That temporary solution, however, is quickly running out.
The organization has already faced significant expenses caring for other feral cats and recently paid off a $700 balance associated with their care.
Now, with another $1,700 needed for these two cats, the rescue says it simply does not have the resources to cover another safe-haven bill.
In its emotional public appeal, the organization explained:
“I cannot stress enough that they need this great safe haven. They were not safe where they were. We cannot afford another safe haven bill. We can’t.”
The message reflects the financial pressures facing small animal rescue organizations that rely heavily on community donations to continue their lifesaving work.
The Same Supporters Keep Giving — But More Help Is Needed
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of this situation is that the rescue’s most dedicated supporters have already contributed repeatedly.
According to AlleyKattz Inc., some individuals have donated as many as four times to help the cats.
While the organization is deeply grateful for that generosity, it is now appealing to a wider audience to help meet the remaining financial need.
“If everyone donated they can be on their way to a forever safe place!” the rescue wrote.
The organization says its volunteers are doing everything possible to provide the cats with a better life, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
How the Community Can Help
AlleyKattz Inc. is urgently seeking $1,700 to help secure a safe haven for the two cats before their temporary arrangement ends.
Those wishing to support the rescue can contribute through the following donation methods provided by the organization:
AlleyKattz Inc. identifies itself as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Supporters who cannot donate are encouraged to share the rescue’s appeal, help spread awareness, and connect the organization with potential supporters.
A Matter of Safety, Compassion, and Community
For many community cat rescuers, the most difficult part of saving an animal is not always getting it off the streets. It is finding the resources to keep that animal safe afterward.
Veterinary expenses, temporary boarding, food, transportation, and long-term placement can quickly become overwhelming, particularly for smaller nonprofit organizations operating primarily through donations.
For these two cats, the immediate concern is finding the financial support necessary to prevent a return to the conditions from which they were rescued.
Every contribution, regardless of size, can help bring the organization closer to its $1,700 goal.
