Knock, Then Gunshots: Renewed Call For Tips In Father's Killing At Huntington Station Home

Police are appealing for fresh information to solve the murder case of a Long Island resident who was a husband and father of two young daughters, and who was killed months ago when he was shot at his home's entrance.

Suffolk County Police have reported that on August 27, 2022, Roquez Villalta-Jimenez, who is 32 years old, was shot when he opened the front door of his residence located on East 12th Street in Huntington Station.

After conversing briefly with the individual at the door in Spanish, two shots were fired at approximately 11:30 p.m, leading to his eventual death at a hospital.

According to the police, Villalta-Jimenez, who was employed as a security manager in a chain of appliance stores, had treated his wife and daughters to a celebration for his 8-year-old daughter's birthday just before his untimely demise.

During a press conference in recognition of National Crime Victims' Rights Week on Monday, April 24th, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison brought attention to a number of unsolved murders, including one.

He mentioned that when a family is affected by violence, things will never be the same for them. It is crucial for the families that the responsible party is identified and held responsible for their actions.

Harrison made it known that Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is willing to give a sum of money, which could reach a maximum of $5,000, with the intention of motivating individuals with knowledge of the situation to step forward.

Sandra Huffman, the sister of Villalta-Jimenez, informed reporters that her nieces were extremely close to their father and his loss has deeply affected them. She urged anyone with information to come forward.

To provide information on the case anonymously, please reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-200-TIPS. All individuals who call will not have their identity disclosed.
