Facebook Marketplace Robbery: Long Island Man Thrown Off Car, Injured During Sale

Authorities reported that the victim sustained head and hip injuries after attempting to prevent the theft by jumping onto the hood of the robbers' vehicle, but the culprits proceeded to drive away.

Police reports indicate that a Seaford local who attempted to sell his Rolex watch was met with deceit as the two individuals he assumed were interested in purchasing it instead stole it from him.

At around 9:40 p.m. on Monday, May 1st, a man aged 29 consented to selling his Rolex watch, which according to police reports had an estimated worth of $8,500, to a different user via Facebook Marketplace.

According to authorities, the seller and would-be purchaser reached a mutual agreement to rendezvous at the Starbucks situated on 3870 Sunrise Highway.

Nonetheless, as soon as the victim appeared and displayed the Rolex to the prospective purchasers, they snatched the timepiece and shoved the vendor to the floor.

The victim leaped onto the hood of the black Mercedes Benz in an effort to prevent the thieves from driving away.

According to police, the perpetrators proceeded with their escape despite throwing the victim off the vehicle, which resulted in a hip injury and a head laceration for him.

At the same time, the suspects, identified as males of Hispanic origin, escaped in an unfamiliar route.

The authorities stated that the victim's wounds were tended to at the location.
