Woman's Body Found On Boat Near Montauk Yacht Club: Police
MONTAUK, NY – The body of a woman was discovered on a boat docked near the Montauk Yacht Club early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The East Hampton Town Police Department confirmed the discovery and stated that an investigation is currently underway. Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman nor have they provided details regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
The vessel where the body was found was reportedly moored in a slip close to the well-known Montauk Yacht Club. Marine Bureau units were on the scene throughout the morning, and the area around the boat was cordoned off as detectives and forensic teams conducted their initial inquiries.
"We are in the very early stages of this investigation," stated a police spokesperson. "Our priority is to identify the deceased and to understand the events that led to her death. We are exploring all possibilities at this time."
The discovery has prompted a flurry of activity in the typically quiet off-season in Montauk. Yacht club staff declined to comment, citing the ongoing police investigation.
Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the East Hampton Town Police Department. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
