SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – A collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies across state lines led to the arrest of a Blue Point man on child pornography charges, authorities announced Tuesday, August 5. The arrest followed a raid prompted by a crucial tip from police in Indiana.

The investigation began when the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information regarding the sharing of child sexual abuse material online. Their findings pointed to a suspect located in Suffolk County, New York. The Indiana ICAC Task Force swiftly alerted the Suffolk County Police Department's Computer Crimes Section, which immediately launched an investigation.

Following a thorough digital forensics analysis and surveillance, detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department were able to pinpoint the suspect's location in the hamlet of Blue Point. A search warrant was obtained, and on Tuesday morning, a multi-agency team executed a raid at the suspect's residence.

During the search, authorities seized multiple electronic devices, including computers and cell phones, which contained evidence of child sexual abuse material. The suspect, identified as an 18-year-old male whose name is being withheld to protect the identities of potential victims, was arrested at the scene without incident.

He has been charged with multiple felony counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child and is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk County District Court. If convicted, he faces a significant prison sentence.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Michael J. Harrison praised the seamless cooperation between the two police departments. "This case is a testament to the importance of our partnerships with law enforcement agencies nationwide," Commissioner Harrison stated in a press conference. "A tip from hundreds of miles away was the catalyst for an investigation that led to a swift arrest, preventing further potential harm to children. We are grateful for the diligence of our colleagues in Indiana."

The Indiana ICAC Task Force also released a statement, highlighting the success of the collaboration. "The digital world has no borders, and neither do we," the statement read. "Our partnership with the Suffolk County Police Department ensures that no matter where an offender is, we will work together to bring them to justice."

Authorities are continuing their investigation by analyzing the seized devices for any further evidence or potential victims. They are urging anyone with information about this case or any related crimes to contact the Suffolk County Police Department's Computer Crimes Section.
