Police report indicates a parolee squatter allegedly threatened homeowners in Riverhead with a gun.

An individual previously convicted and currently on parole is alleged to have threatened two homeowners in Long Island, brandishing a gun in the process, according to police reports.

On Thursday, December 28, at approximately 8 p.m., a concerning incident unfolded in Riverhead. Allegedly, an ex-convict on parole threatened homeowners with a gun at a residence located on Lewis Street. The details surrounding this incident are currently under investigation by local authorities.

According to Riverhead Town Police, two individuals placed a 911 call, reporting that a homeless man was making an attempt to squat in their residence.

Upon confronting the homeless man, an argument ensued, escalating to a point where the individual allegedly brandished a handgun, intensifying the situation.

Law enforcement officers successfully recovered the weapon involved, revealing it to be loaded and with the serial number removed. The investigation into this incident is likely to involve further examination of the firearm.

The identified suspect, 34-year-old Daquan Strand, reportedly exhibited violent behavior during the arrest process, resulting in an injury to an officer's thumb that necessitated medical treatment.

Daquan Strand is facing multiple charges, including criminal possession of a weapon and menacing, in connection to the incident.

At the time of the incident, Daquan Strand was regarded as a parole absconder, having a prior conviction for attempted criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
