🏛️ LONG ISLAND DAILY NEWS ANNOUNCES: LONG ISLAND LEGISLATIVE WATCH

Long Island Daily News is launching LONG ISLAND LEGISLATIVE WATCH, a new ongoing government and legislation feature dedicated to helping residents of Nassau and Suffolk Counties understand what is happening in government.

Every year, hundreds of bills are introduced in the New York State Legislature.

Some could affect our taxes.

Some could affect our schools.

Some could change our roads and transportation laws.

Others deal with housing, public safety, the environment, energy, animals, consumer protections, small businesses and the everyday cost of living.

But how many Long Islanders actually hear about these bills before they become law?

We want to change that.

🔎 LONG ISLAND LEGISLATIVE WATCH WILL FOLLOW THE BILLS — AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND THEM.

Long Island Daily News will examine proposed legislation and explain:

🏍️ OUR FIRST LEGISLATIVE WATCH: A966

We’re beginning with New York Assembly Bill A966, proposed legislation concerning motorcycle awareness on New York state highways.

A966 proposes requiring signs stating “Watch for Motorcycles” on state highways.

The proposal is part of a legislative effort that dates back several sessions; the official legislative history lists predecessor versions going back to the 2017–2018 session.

And A966 is only the beginning.
