Car plunges into Patchogue Bay: News 12 assisted
A vehicle plunged into Patchogue Bay and the News 12 team assisted in alerting first responders for a rescue operation.
Around 4:59 a.m., the vehicle ended up submerged in the water located on South Ocean Avenue.
While the event occurred, Caroline Flynn, a News 12 reporter, and Sue Caron, a photographer, were present at the location.
In an instant, Caron witnessed the man reversing before plunging into the water.
Caron said she thought he was reversing into the spot to observe the sunrise, but instead he seemed to be preparing to leave, and accidentally drove into the water.
Police arrived at the scene within two minutes after the News 12 crew promptly contacted 911.
According to the police, Nestor Riosarvealo was saved by officer Edward Pitre and Peter Feehan, a member of the Patchogue Fire Department.
Pitre and Feehan plunged into the water and shattered a car window to rescue Riosarveoalo, 33, then swam to shore with him.
They were all taken to the hospital, received medical attention for their minor injuries, and were subsequently discharged.
