Residents and visitors packed the waterfront this weekend as the annual Northport Harbor Festival returned with live music, local vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities along Main Street and the harbor.
The two-day event brought together small businesses, artists, and community organizations from across Long Island, transforming the village into one of the region’s busiest summer destinations.
Families enjoyed carnival rides, outdoor games, and performances from local bands throughout the day, while restaurants and shops reported increased foot traffic as crowds filled the village streets.
“We wait for this every summer,” said one Northport resident attending the festival Saturday afternoon. “It really brings the community together and helps support local businesses.”
Village officials said public safety measures and traffic control plans were put in place to handle the large turnout. Suffolk County Police officers and volunteer emergency personnel were stationed throughout the festival area during the weekend festivities.
Local business owners welcomed the crowds, saying events like the Harbor Festival provide an important economic boost during the summer season.
“It’s great exposure for everyone,” said a local vendor. “People come from all over Long Island to experience Northport.”
The festival also featured craft vendors, handmade goods, live entertainment, and waterfront activities that continued into the evening hours.
Organizers called this year’s turnout one of the strongest in recent years and thanked volunteers, sponsors, and local residents for helping make the event a success.
The Northport Harbor Festival has long been considered one of Long Island’s signature summer traditions, attracting visitors from across Suffolk and Nassau counties each year.
