Rescued Man Saves Service Dog on Long Island

A 34-year-old man on Long Island was rescued after becoming trapped while rescuing his service dog from a similar predicament.

On Sunday, May 12th, the incident unfolded in Oyster Bay.

According to Nassau County Police, a 34-year-old man was walking his service dog near the water around 8:30 p.m. when the dog ventured into the water for a swim.

During the swim, the pup became trapped underneath a dock and started to struggle.

The man reached out to his girlfriend about the situation, who then utilized the dog's GPS collar to locate them and inform the authorities.

As authorities were en route to the scene, the man entered the water to rescue the dog.

After successfully retrieving the dog from the water, the man found himself trapped.

Upon arrival, an officer provided the man with a life preserver to assist him. Subsequently, the Oyster Bay Fire Department intervened, utilizing a rescue line to safely extricate the man from the water.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
