The District Attorney reports that an individual accused of being a gang member has confessed to multiple murders in relation to the Long Island shootings.

Officials have announced that an individual, who is said to be a member of the Bloods gang, has admitted guilt to charges of murder, attempted murder, and additional offenses in relation to two distinct incidents on Long Island.

The Nassau County District Attorney announced that Christopher Anderson, also known as CK, aged 27 of Roosevelt, pleaded guilty on Thursday, June 29 to various charges, including murder, relating to two different incidents that occurred in 2020.

On November 28, 2020, the initial incident took place, involving two individuals who were arraigned in connection with the Freeport shooting that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old and injured a 19-year-old.

As per the allegations, Taffarie Haughton, 21, along with another individual, aged 19, were present at Freeport's Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

According to reports, when the duo entered the park bathroom, they were supposedly pursued by individuals who were claimed to be members of the Bloods gang and were attending a gang gathering in the park.

Anderson and other gang members reportedly blocked the exit, preventing the two from leaving the park.

Anderson and Floyd McNeil initiated the shooting at that moment.

Haughton suffered two gunshot wounds, one to his chest and heart, and another to his foot. He was declared deceased at Nassau University Medical Center.

According to the DA's Office, the young victim, aged 19, was hit in the shoulder and subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The scene investigation resulted in the discovery of seven shell casings.

On December 29, 2020, nearly a month had passed when Anderson found himself engaged in a police chase with four Hempstead Police Detectives. During the pursuit, he was reported to have swiftly maneuvered through Roosevelt traffic at excessive speeds.

Anderson reportedly drove into a driveway close to Pennywood Avenue and attempted to step out of the car.

As law enforcement officers got closer to Anderson, he allegedly shot three times at them but failed to hit. The officers retaliated by firing back, prompting Anderson to escape unharmed. However, he was apprehended the following day.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly stated that Christopher Anderson heartlessly fired his weapon at Taffarie Haughton and another young individual during daylight hours at Martin Luther King Park simply due to their unfortunate presence at a Bloods gang gathering.

Due to the defendant's reckless violence, Taffarie tragically perished. Our commitment to eradicating gang violence within our communities remains steadfast, aiming to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

Anderson admitted to his culpability for a variety of offenses in two distinct cases, which include second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and the second-degree possession of a weapon charge.

At his sentencing on Wednesday, August 30, he is anticipated to be sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.

In the event of a conviction, McNeil, Anderson's co-defendant, is expected to be sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. McNeil's case is still waiting for resolution.
