Funeral today for one of the teens killed in a wrong-way crash in Jericho

Today, loved ones will come together to bid farewell to a 14-year-old boy who lost his life in a tragic accident in Jericho on Wednesday night, caused by driving in the opposite direction.

The burial ceremony for Ethan Falkowitz has been scheduled to occur at Temple Sinai of Roslyn, commencing at 11:30 in the morning.

An accused drunk driver traveling in the opposite direction on North Broadway (Route 106) caused the deaths of both Falkowitz and Drew Hassenbein, who was 14 years old.

The collision between a Dodge Ram driven by Amandeep Singh, 34, traveling in the opposite direction of the northbound lanes and a 2019 Alfa Romeo that was carrying four teenagers was confirmed by the detectives.

Roslyn Middle School students Hassenbein and Falkowitz, who were close friends and highly ranked tennis players nationally, had recently concluded a celebratory dinner following their win against the Syosset High School tennis team.

Tennis coach Jay Harris expresses great sadness on behalf of the tennis community over the tragic occurrence in Roslyn that affected two exceptional boys.

The other teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were hospitalized due to internal injuries, but their conditions are currently stable.

Singh faces accusations of aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter by vehicle, leaving the scene of an auto accident resulting in death, DWI, and two charges of assault. According to prosecutors, Singh had a blood alcohol level of .18.

Singh is scheduled to reappear in court on May 8 after being detained without the option of bail.
