Officials report that a student who was 22 years old and from Long Island was discovered deceased in her dormitory room at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy located in Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod earlier this week.
According to The Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, Amanda Robinson, a Bellmore resident of Nassau County, was discovered deceased in her dormitory on the morning of April 19th.
According to the DA's office, Robinson's death was likely caused by a medical condition he already had, leading investigators to conclude that there was no foul play involved.
Academy President Rear Admiral Francis X. McDonald has confirmed that Robinson, who was expected to graduate this spring, has passed away in our dormitory. The news brings a deep sense of sorrow and grief.
McDonald requested that the family's privacy be respected during this challenging time until more information becomes available.
The Robinson family received condolences from the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, but no further updates were given.
