Lake Ronkonkoma Man Arrested Monday Morning after Striking Three Construction Workers, Killing One

Suffolk County Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Lake Ronkonkoma Monday morning after he allegedly was driving high when he struck three construction workers, seriously injuring two and killing one. 

Thomas Lobianco was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lane of Townline Road at the intersection with Terry Road at approximately 6:40 a.m. when he drove his vehicle through a red light and onto the sidewalk and struck three construction workers preparing for a paving project. After hitting the workers, the Toyota then struck an electronic crossing sign, and a fence. 

All three men were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where 38-year-old Joel Sicon-Porix of Mastic was pronounced dead. Kevin Chavez- Sarmiento 30, of Bay Shore, and Jose Gonzalez- Colindres 33 of Brentwood, were admitted for treatment of serious injuries. 

Lobianco 26, or Lake Ronkonkoma was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct, and had his first Court hearing yesterday, August 11 at First District Court in Central Islip.
