Popular Infant Car Seats Recalled Over Injury Risks: What Parents Need to Know

LONG ISLAND, NY — Parents and caregivers are being urged to check their infant car seats following a nationwide recall involving nearly 23,000 Evenflo car seats, bases and travel systems because of a potential safety issue that could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Evenflo Company is recalling 22,981 Revolve180 LiteMax NXT products after regulators identified a problem involving the car seat’s recline indicator.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the level indicator may be improperly calibrated. As a result, a caregiver following the installation instructions could position the seat more upright than intended.

An improperly reclined infant seat can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Which Car Seats Are Affected?

The recall includes certain:

  • Evenflo Revolve180 LiteMax NXT infant car seats
  • Revolve180 LiteMax NXT bases
  • Omni Ultra Travel Systems
  • Shyft Intuiti Travel Systems containing the Revolve180 LiteMax NXT seat

Affected products were manufactured through March 31, 2025. Parents should check the model number and manufacture date printed on the label attached to their car seat or base.

Why Were They Recalled?

The Revolve180 LiteMax NXT uses a recline indicator to help parents determine whether the infant seat is positioned correctly.

Federal regulators found that the indicator may show that the seat is properly positioned even when the child is sitting more upright than intended.

NHTSA determined that affected seats may not comply with federal safety requirements for child-restraint systems.

What Should Parents Do?

Evenflo is developing a free remedy kit for affected consumers. The company says the remedy will address the accuracy of the recline indicator or provide another way for caregivers to verify that the seat is installed at the proper angle.

Interim notification letters are expected to begin going out to affected owners in September 2026, with additional information to follow when the remedy becomes available.

Parents and caregivers should locate their car seat’s model number and manufacturing date and compare the information with the official recall.
