Suffolk County Major Detectives are investigating a bank robbery in Central Islip early Tuesday morning. A man entered the Bank of America located at 185 Wheeler Road in Central Islip on Tuesday, August 13, at 9:04 am, and displayed what looked to be a handgun in his waistband, and demanded cash and made verbal threats of violence toward the teller. The teller complied, and handed over an unknown amount of cash.
The suspect, described as an African-American male in his late 30s,between 5 feet 10 to 6 feet tall, with long black hair, and a thin build, fled on foot. He was wearing a burgundy flannel shirt, and black pants at the time of the robbery.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the Major Cases Unit at 631-852-6555, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers, at 1800-220-TIPS. All TIPS will remain confidential.
