Brentwood Man Arrested Tuesday Morning After Allegedly Fleeing the Scene of a Deadly Hit and Run in Lindenhurst
Suffolk County Police arrested a Brentwood man Tuesday morning, after he allegedly struck a pedestrian early Tuesday morning in Lindenhurst, on Sunrise Highway, and fled the scene, leaving the man critically wounded on the Highway.
A man was crossing westbound Sunrise Highway at North Indiana Avenue at 4:25 a.m., when he was struck by a 2012 Honda Accord. The driver fled the scene, and the victim, Eric Ermanovics, 56, who was homeless, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation by Major Case Detectives, Daniel Gomez, 65 of Brentwood, was arrested at his home in Brentwood. Gomez was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash involving a fatality.
He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip.
