New Pediatric Urgent Care Model Launches at Two Long Island Locations
Medford and Franklin Square locations will offer families expanded access to pediatric care during evenings, weekends and holidays

MEDFORD, NY — Long Island parents will have a new option when their children need medical attention outside of traditional doctor’s office hours.
Allied Physicians Group has launched a hybrid pediatric urgent-care model at locations in Medford and Franklin Square, combining traditional pediatric practices during the day with pediatric urgent-care services after regular office hours.
The new approach is designed to give families greater access to healthcare during evenings, weekends and holidays — times when a child’s regular pediatrician may not normally be available.
Unlike a traditional urgent-care center that treats patients of all ages, the program focuses specifically on children and provides care through pediatric medical professionals.
The concept also makes additional use of existing medical offices. During regular hours, the locations continue operating as pediatric practices. After hours, they transition to providing pediatric urgent care.
For Long Island families, that could provide another option when a child develops an illness or minor injury that requires prompt medical attention but may not require a hospital emergency room visit.
The organization is beginning the program at its Medford and Franklin Square locations, with plans for additional expansion, including a future Riverhead location.
The launch comes as families continue looking for more convenient healthcare options that fit around work, school and other responsibilities.
Extended-hour pediatric care can be particularly important for parents when a child becomes sick unexpectedly at night, over a weekend or during a holiday.
Parents should still seek emergency medical assistance for serious or potentially life-threatening conditions.
The new program adds another healthcare option for families across both Nassau and Suffolk counties while potentially providing an alternative for certain non-emergency medical needs outside regular pediatric office hours.
