Authorities have announced that a child pornography possession and sexual exploitation of a minor conviction will result in a Long Island ex-racehorse trainer spending the rest of his days in jail.

The US Attorney's Office Eastern District of New York reported that Daniel Mullan, a resident of Elmont who is 83 years old, was given the maximum sentence allowed under the criminal laws that were effective during the time when Mullan committed his crimes, which is 30 years in prison.

Based on documents submitted to the court, Mullan was found guilty of having a significant quantity of pornographic material involving children from 2014 to 2017.

During the search of Mullan's Elmont residence and a storage unit he was renting, numerous pictures and videos of child sexual abuse were discovered. Some of the videos involved Mullan engaging in sexual acts with adolescent boys.

During the years 1999 to 2006, Mullan went on trips domestically as well as internationally with a minor and documented sexually abusing the minor. The FBI carried out an investigation and found this information.

Afterward, the investigators discovered a safe deposit box containing over $300,000 cash designated as quiet funds for a different victim.

US Attorney Breon Peace stated that the defendant's numerous appalling acts against minors make the sentence fair and sets an example for those intending to harm innocent children.

In August 2019, Mullan, who held citizenship in both the US and Ireland, was transferred from Ireland through extradition.
