The campaign was centered around gathering and distributing food for those family members who are most at risk of going hungry - our beloved pets.

During the 12th Annual Legislative Pet Food Drive Challenge organized by Long Island Cares, Supervisor Ed Romaine of Brookhaven Town revealed that they have amassed a total of 258 lbs. of pet food and supplies.

The initiative centered around gathering and supplying nourishment for those of our animal companions who are at the highest risk of experiencing starvation.

From March 21 to April 22, seven drop off locations in the Town received donations such as canned food for dogs and cats, bags of dry food weighing five to ten pounds, pet care supplies such as pet carriers, food bowls, litter boxes, pet toys, treats and many other relevant items.

Long Island Cares, Inc. was established by Harry Chapin who aimed to unite all possible resources to aid the undernourished and food-insecure on Long Island, while endeavoring to fulfill the communal humanitarian needs as best as they can. The organization strives to enhance the food security of families, support programs that facilitate families in accomplishing self-sufficiency, and impart knowledge about the root and aftermath of hunger on Long Island to the populace.
