Sweet Lenny! This adorable and handsome, 2yr old, 73 pound boy came to us as an owner surrender in October 2022. He was adopted as a puppy from a local rescue group, and after he had behavior issues in the home, the rescue was unable to take him back, thus he was surrendered to the shelter. Lenny's ideal home would be with a savvy family with kids 15 and older. Lenny likes other dogs and social and friendly with them! Lenny has had two incidents in the home of guarding, so he is going to need a family who will be willing to take the time to devote to Lenny. This is not going to happen over-night, but we know, somewhere in this beautiful universe is Lenny's forever family.

Months Sitting In The Shelter! This 6 year old good boy was surrendered to the town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter by his owner, who was moving & leaving him behind. He has been there for months without any interest!

Caine is 80 pounds of pure LOVE & MUSH!! He is smart, playful & would make a great family dog. He walks like a gentleman on the leash, knows so many commands, and loves everyone he meets! Although he’s not a fan of the felines, after a proper introduction, Caine would do great living with another medium to large sized dog.

Her name should really be "sugar or maple" as she is pure goodness. Sadly her life until now has not been a good one. Used as a breeder bitch for a greedy breeder. At 6 years young Moon is, for the first time, learning what a home and love is like. She came to us shaking and terrified yet trusting and forgiving. Stairs have proven her biggest challenge so a home without them would be best.

Hi Friend! My listed name is Enchanted but my foster mommy calls me Milly. I was rescued from the streets of southern Georgia and could not be more grateful! New York has been nothing be great to me. I love people, other dogs, and even kids! Although, not to sound super needy, I would be delighted as the only pup in the home but having for four legged fur siblings is okay with me. I am a low maintenance doggo! My foster momma leaves me out of the crate when she leaves the home, I totally just sleep on the couch until she gets home. When she does, I'll follow her until she gives me attention... then I'll wag my tail and get so happy she is home!! My foster momma introduced me to her little cousins, I absolutely loved them. They were fun to kiss on the face and get all the pets from! I also have been doing FANTASTIC with going potty outside! Although I was a stray, I'm house trained😉. Foster mom is leaning more towards that because there is another foster pup in the home who is in the middle of house training so even though he has accidents, I never do! I get told I'm a good girl a lot, I guess that means I'm pretty awesome. I sure do love to sleep all day but if you wanna play, let's play! I don't chew things around the house, bother my foster parents to get up on the bed at night (but if invited... Meet Flower....A beautiful and PETITE smooth collie mix girl needs foster or adopter. WE DO NOT WANT HER TO GO BACK TO SHELTER. Flower was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in 2021 by a wonderful local shelter. Unfortunately, she did not acclimate very well to the shelter environment and she reacted poorly. Her sweet and sensitive personality was definitely not shining forth. Flower was overlooked by adopters for way too long. Finally in a (temporary) foster home, Flower is coming alive. After six weeks in her foster home.... Flower is sweet. and loving. and gentle. and obedient. She is beginning to show some of her silly playfulness. Flower is conquering socialization milestones and bonding completely with her human. She has already proven herself to be a true and wonderful companion. Her joy is to be at your side, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Yet, she is perfectly content relaxing by herself. She loves her crate, it is her safe spot and she self soothes there if overwhelmed. Flower is totally enjoying the warm sunny days outdoors. Curious and watchful, there is so much to look at and listen to. She enjoys running in the yard and we have recently begun working on her leash walking manners (I often wonder if Flowers stated age of 9 years old is correct, as she is very spry and agile). Flower respectfully asks for attention, and then seems so grateful for the affection shown to her. She is a happy and content girl. Flower is simply a joy and makes me smile all day. And she is just beautiful to look at!!What a great testament to the rebounding soul of a saved dog!! You will love her.Flower is currently thriving in a calm adult only home. Although making great strides, she is still very uncertain in many situations and will need a patient and understanding family while she re-adjusts yet again. Flower is a petite pup, weighing less than 40 pounds. Her photos are size deceiving, they make her appear much larger. She is 9 years young.

Rusty is a 7yr old ginger tom cat with a big heart. He was found as a stray in a local colony and brought into a loving home by a young girl who was working on TNR'ing the colony. We are not sure if he was previously neutered under TNR or that he was taken from the colony by another family who saw his loving personality and had him vetted. But unfortunately, Rusty was returned to the same place he was taken from.

He is a bit cautious, but who wouldn't be, after thinking that he finally found his forever home only to be tossed outside again to fend for himself.

He has been thoroughly checked out by our vet and except for having 2 teeth removed, is in good health.

He is a bit shy, but once he gets to know that you will not hurt him or remove him from his bed, he relaxes. He just needs some extra TLC to bring out his "ginger" personality.

Most ginger cats are known to have an even temperament, are affectionate and more friendly than your average house cat. Rusty loves other cats and can be found snuggling up with the others in the free roaming cat room.

Why don't you come visit him at the shelter and give him the purrfect forever home he deserves after such a tough start to his life ?

Vanilla is a beautiful girl with unusual markings. We are told that she likely has some Husky heritage and it seems based on some behaviors, that it could be true! Vanilla is very silly in her play and clown-like in her mannerisms. Vanilla loves to fetch toys and she even brings them back! She will deliver the toy to hand, but the releasing it part needs a little work!! Vanilla will benefit from a home with a yard to run in and opportunities for exercise and continued training. Vanilla is a sweet girl and a forever home is what she needs since she has been bounced around a few times that we know of in her young life.

Sooo I posted a goldendoodle for adoption the other day and guess what…she has close to 200 shares already. BUT I’ve posted this brindle beauty many times and he is lucky if he gets 5 shares. Let me tell you about my friend Graham who is not a doodle.

I’ve been volunteering for a full year now and Graham was already there when I started. AND Graham has yet to have anyone show interest in him. Why??? Is he too plain looking? Is he too big? Is he mean looking? I’m scratching my head over here! Graham is probably one of the most affectionate dogs at the shelter. He loves nothing more than you spending time with him. Loves both walks and playing fetch. Graham is around 3 years old around 50ish pounds. . He is sooo people friendly but must be your only pet in the home. Graham is so worth it!
