Long Island residents oppose housing proposal that would bring more development closer to trains
WABC-TV in LONG ISLAND:
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is being urged by communities throughout the state to withdraw a controversial housing plan.
Several locals are concerned that Hochul's plan to build "high-density" apartments near train stations would reduce their say in future construction in the area.
Village mayors from all throughout Nassau and Suffolk County joined community leaders like Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino in voicing their concerns.
This follows the enormous support for a petition to "Save Our Suburbs" that was spearheaded by residents of Hempstead on Long Island.
