Two Women Arrested Following Investigation at Commack Massage Businesses
COMMACK, NY — Two women were arrested following a Suffolk County Police investigation into alleged illegal activity at massage businesses in Commack.
Police said the investigation was initiated after authorities received complaints from members of the community regarding activity at the locations.
As part of the investigation, Suffolk County Police conducted inspections at two businesses on Tuesday, September 1.
Authorities said the operation involved officers from the Suffolk County Police Department along with officials responsible for enforcing licensing and business regulations.
Following the inspections, police arrested two women on charges related to prostitution and the alleged unauthorized practice of a profession.
Authorities allege that massage services were being offered by individuals who did not have the professional licensing required under New York law.
The arrests are part of an ongoing effort by Suffolk County authorities to investigate complaints involving businesses suspected of operating outside state and local requirements.
The charges announced by police are accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Police have not indicated whether additional arrests or enforcement actions are expected as a result of the investigation.
