Long Island’s Josh Knoth Takes Another Step Toward the Majors With Double-A Debut

PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD, NY — A Long Island baseball standout is moving another step closer to his Major League dreams.

Josh Knoth, the former Patchogue-Medford High School pitching star and one of the Milwaukee Brewers’ highly regarded young prospects, made his Double-A debut Tuesday night for the Biloxi Shuckers.

The 20-year-old right-hander pitched five innings in his first appearance at the Double-A level, striking out four batters.

After encountering some early trouble, Knoth settled into the game and finished his outing on a strong note, retiring 13 of the final 16 hitters he faced.

For Long Island baseball fans who followed Knoth during his high school career, his latest promotion represents another major milestone in a journey that began on the fields of Suffolk County.

Knoth emerged as one of Long Island’s most exciting young pitchers while attending Patchogue-Medford High School.

His powerful arm and success on the mound eventually attracted attention well beyond Long Island.

The Milwaukee Brewers selected Knoth with the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft, beginning his professional baseball career shortly after high school.

Since then, he has worked his way through Milwaukee’s minor-league system while continuing his development as a professional pitcher.

Reaching Double-A is a significant step for a young prospect. Players at that level regularly face more experienced competition, and success can put them within reach of baseball’s highest level.
