Tragic Loss: Two Young Long Island Sisters, Just 2 and 4, Drown in Pond Behind Apartment Complex
In a heartbreaking tragedy, two young sisters, ages 2 and 4, drowned Saturday afternoon near their apartment complex in Holtsville, Long Island. According to police, the girls were reported missing around 3 p.m. when their family noticed they had disappeared from their home on Victorian Court.
A search was quickly launched, with neighbors joining in to help. The sisters were discovered unresponsive in a pond located behind the complex. Good Samaritans and emergency responders pulled the girls from the water and rushed them by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital. Despite efforts to save them, both were tragically pronounced dead.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, though they do not believe foul play was involved. The devastating loss has left the community in shock.
