Animal Cruelty: Amityville Man Charged For Neglecting Dog, SPCA Says
Charges have been filed against a man from Long Island for allegedly subjecting his 5-year-old dog to severe neglect.
On Monday, May 15th, Naheem A. Scafe from Amityville was charged with animal cruelty by the Suffolk County SPCA.
Dollar, a 5-year-old bulldog, was reportedly spotted by SPCA officers who visited the Babylon Animal Shelter.
Animal Control brought Dollar to the shelter in a malnourished and neglected state, with urine, dirt, and filth covering his body.
After being inspected, it was discovered that Dollar had tongue sores, scrotum burns from urine, and swollen legs with inflammation resulting from disregard for hygiene.
Scafe's scheduled court appearance is set to take place on Wednesday, May 31 at the First District court.
The community is being urged by officials to report any instances of animal neglect or cruelty to the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722.
