A Long Island high school altercation between three teenage girls turned physical resulting in minor injuries for two of them.
According to Nassau County Police, the occurrence occurred at Uniondale High School at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, March 27.
Detectives stated that while walking through the school's hallways, a 17-year-old girl from Hempstead engaged in a verbal dispute with two other girls who were 17 and 18 years old.
According to authorities, the disagreement turned violent and the initial teenager started hitting the other 17-year-old female. Afterwards, she apparently intensified the altercation by revealing a utility knife and attacking the victim. In self-defense, the victim raised her hands towards her face and suffered a small wound on her finger.
The 18-year-old teen received a small cut on her left cheek in her attempt to cease the altercation. The fight was stopped by school security and teachers until the arrival of the authorities.
The teen was found with the knife and Nassau medics provided treatment to the two victims who were injured on-site.
The charges filed against the teenager included second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree menacing.
At the Youth Section of the First District Court in Hempstead, she underwent arraignment.
