29-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in New Cassel Crash

Police say motorcycle collided with vehicle making a left turn on Old Country Road

NEW CASSEL, NY — A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon following a collision with a vehicle making a left turn on Old Country Road in New Cassel, according to Nassau County Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on September 14.

Police said an 81-year-old man was driving a 2024 Subaru westbound on Old Country Road when he attempted to make a left turn near Bond Street.

At the same time, the 29-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Old Country Road on a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle.

The two vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities had not publicly identified the motorcyclist as of the latest information available.

The 81-year-old driver was also transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Nassau County Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.

No additional information regarding possible charges had been announced.

The crash is another tragic reminder of the vulnerability motorcyclists face on Long Island’s heavily traveled roadways, particularly at intersections where vehicles are turning across traffic.
