New Nesconset Coffee Bar Combines Coffee With Financial Literacy for Young People

Coffee For Kids Coffee Bar creates a hands-on environment where young people can learn business, money management and workforce skills

NESCONSET, NY — A new coffee bar in Nesconset is serving more than drinks — it is also helping young people develop financial, business and career skills they can carry into adulthood.

The Coffee For Kids Coffee Bar, located at 260 Smithtown Boulevard, Suite 9A in Nesconset, is open to the public while supporting the educational mission of the nonprofit organization Causes For Kids.

Proceeds from the coffee bar help fund the organization’s educational programs, resources and community outreach.

But the location is also designed to function as a hands-on learning environment.

Young people can gain exposure to real-world business operations while developing skills in customer service, communication, entrepreneurship and workforce readiness.

Causes For Kids was founded by Aleta Love and provides educational programming focused on topics including money management, budgeting, financial planning, entrepreneurship, communication and career preparation.

The organization works with schools, libraries, businesses, churches, advocacy organizations and groups serving people with disabilities.

The concept brings financial education outside of a traditional classroom and gives young people an opportunity to see how lessons about money, work and entrepreneurship can apply to everyday life.

Causes For Kids is also expanding its educational efforts through a financial-literacy podcast hosted by Love. The program is expected to feature conversations with local entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals about money, careers, entrepreneurship and leadership.

For families, programs that introduce financial literacy at a young age can provide opportunities for children and teenagers to begin understanding concepts they will eventually encounter in adulthood, from budgeting and employment to running a business.

The new Nesconset location also gives community members an opportunity to support those programs simply by stopping in for a cup of coffee.
