A female Long Island resident and a Suffolk County inmate were apprehended following the accusation that they had employed a six-year-old child to transmit drugs and illicit materials to the inmate.

After an investigation conducted by the internal security division of the Sheriff's Office, an attempt to promote prison contraband by Kadeem Lewis (age 29) and Shanita Limehouse (age 39) of Hempstead, Nassau County that occurred on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Riverhead Correctional Facility resulted in arrests.

Upon inspection, it was seen that Limehouse was utilizing a 6-year-old for the purpose of moving contraband to Lewis, according to Officer Vicki DiStefano from the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.

Cops conducted an investigation and scoured Lewis, which yielded the discovery of K2 spice (synthetic marijuana) and matches, according to DiStefano.

On Thursday, March 2, Lewis was accused of hawking prison contraband, conspiring, and jeopardizing a child's well-being.

On Thursday, March 9, DiStefano announced that Limestone was apprehended and accused of the offense.

The incident was reported to Child Protective Services.

Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. praised the officers of Suffolk County noting that by bringing the perpetrator into custody they had not only intercepted hazardous material from entering the site but they had also safeguarded the well-being of a deceived youngster who was coerced into participating in the transgression.

Toulon commented that drugs in the prison are highly sought after, their value being 10 times higher than their street value – this makes them especially hazardous and likely to lead to violent disputes and medical concerns.
