A female individual has been charged with driving whilst under the influence of narcotics, following the discovery of her child walking in a Long Island street in the evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 am Sunday, March 12 in Patchogue.

The Suffolk County Police stated that a 32-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Scion on the Sunrise Highway Service Road going eastbound with her two-year-old daughter in the car when she suddenly experienced an illness.

Anna Heinecker, a Mastic Beach resident, stopped her car at the corner of Meadow Wood Drive and Rolling Hill Drive, and removed her child from the restraints of their car seat, as reported by police.

Subsequently, Heinecker lost consciousness, and the motorist found her daughter walking on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road. The child had left the vehicle before the motorist's discovery, as per police.

Police officers responded to the scene and upon finding Heinecker in her vehicle administered Narcan, leading to her revival.

Heinecker was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for medical attention, then she was discharged and handed over to the police.

She was accused of:

Committing the offense of Leandra's Law by operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a minor under 15 years old in the car, driving under the influence of drugs, or deliberately causing harm to a child.

Law enforcement reported that the kid was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for checking and that Child Protective Services were notified.

Heinecker is set to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday for arraignment.
