The police are on the lookout for a pair of individuals who allegedly vandalized a car by smashing its window and swiftly took off with a recently purchased Apple Watch from the rear seat, all while the cars were stationary at a stoplight.
According to the Nassau County Police, the occurrence took place in North New Hyde Park on Saturday, June 24th.
According to the authorities, a male individual was returning from the Apple Store at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, where he had just bought an Apple Watch. The mall is situated at 630 Old Country Road.
Around 7:40 p.m., while heading to a different place, he reached a traffic signal at the intersection of Lakeville Road and Fairfield Lane, where he stopped.
According to the police, a late model gray Kia SUV, driven by an unidentified female suspect, approached from behind the man's vehicle after he came to a stop.
The victim's car was approached by a man in his early twenties, as described by the authorities, wielding a center punch, which is a tool capable of breaking car windows.
After shattering the victim's rear driver's side window with the center punch, he reached into the car, grabbed the Apple Watch, and swiftly returned to the Kia, speeding away in an easterly direction on Evergreen Avenue.
The investigation is still in progress, according to the police. If you have any information about the incident, please contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
