According to police, a man used his fists to punch a car carrying a child in the head during a road rage incident on the Long Island Expressway

According to authorities, a man has been taken into custody after a road rage episode on the Long Island Expressway which involved a 12-year-old son of a driver.

On Monday, April 3, at approximately 7 p.m., an event occurred on I-495 close to Jericho.

Panagiotis Orkopoulos, a 42-year-old resident from Elmhurst, Queens, was reported by Nassau County Police to have stopped his 2012 Subaru in the HOV lane and commenced damaging a 49-year-old individual's vehicle by using his head and fists.

The man and his son drove away and contacted the police because they were afraid for their safety. No injuries were reported by either of them.

Officers located Orkopoulos a short time later, and he was arrested without incident. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Orkopoulos faces charges of second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree menacing, endangering a child's welfare, and several violations of vehicle and traffic laws. Authorities stated that he would be arraigned at the soonest possible time he is medically able to.
