On Opening day the Mets honored Buddy Harrelson along with many other members of the organization, but they could not get the job done against Freddy Peralta and the Brewers. The Mets only run and hit came on a Starling Marte homerun in the bottom of the second inning. Although starter Jose Quintana pitched adequately, his two allowed runs in four and two thirds innings gave him a loss in the effort. Brewers longtime veteran and outfielder Christian Yelich homered against Quintana in the game.
