Vietnam War veterans were recognized and honored at a VFW Post on Long Island.

On Saturday, in CENTER MORICHES, N.Y., almost 50 Vietnam War veterans received honors on Long Island.

At the VFW Post in Center Moriches, Rep. Andrew Garbarino presented the Vietnam War veterans with special commemorative pins.

"These veterans really did not get the respect that they deserved when they came home. It's a little late, but we're happy to be here to do it, and I'm honored to do this as part of my job," Garbarino said

A significant number of Vietnam veterans are commemorating the 50-year milestone since their service during the war, which concluded in 1975.
