An attacker who used a machete to attempt to murder a man from Long Island has been charged.

A homeless individual aged 30 is accused of attempting to murder someone else with a machete at a laundromat.

An assault transpired at the Laundry Palace located on 15 W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream in the early hours of Tuesday, March 14.

Officers responding to the call found a man in his 50s lying on the ground, according to the Nassau County Police.

Results of an inquiry demonstrated that there had been a conflict between the victim and Roberto Velasquez, who reportedly struck the victim multiple times with a machete, inflicting severe harm, according to the police.

Velasquez was subsequently found and apprehended without trouble.

The victim was conveyed by a Nassau County Ambulance to a nearby hospital and is currently in a critical state, according to the police.

Velasquez has been indicted for the offenses of attempted murder and assault. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment on Wednesday, March 15, in Hempstead.
