According to authorities, a man from Sayville has been arrested for possessing 100 images of child pornography.

A male resident of Long Island has been charged with purported possession of child pornography subsequent to the provision of a tip-off to law enforcement authorities by concerned individuals.

On Wednesday, March 22, Suffolk County Police detectives from the Digital Forensics Unit conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of 23-year-old Sayville resident Daniel Forsberg.

Police acted on a lead from the state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading them to execute a search warrant at Forsberg's residence. Detectives located over 100 images of child pornography on his electronic devices during the search.

Forsberg faced charges of a felony for promoting and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

He spent the whole night in custody at the Third Precinct and is set to appear before the court in Central Islip on Thursday, March 23.

Detectives are still investigating and are urging individuals who possess any information regarding the case to get in touch with the Digital Forensics Unit at 631-852-6279.
