Riverhead Building Supply Plans Acquisition of Contractor Express Assets

Acquisition will expand company’s presence and building-material capabilities across Nassau County’s South Shore

CALVERTON, N.Y. — August 19, 2026 — Riverhead Building Supply has announced plans to acquire certain assets of Contractor Express, a longtime full-service lumber and building materials dealer based in Oceanside, New York.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Riverhead Building Supply’s ability to serve contractors, builders, homeowners and communities throughout the South Shore of Nassau County.

Founded by the Lucas family in Oceanside in 1981, Contractor Express has operated for approximately 45 years and established a strong reputation in the local building-materials market.

Riverhead Building Supply is a family-owned lumber and building materials dealer currently operating 21 full-service lumberyards and two Lakeville Kitchen & Bath Showrooms across New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The companies say their shared emphasis on customer service, knowledgeable employees and quality building materials makes the acquisition a natural fit.

“Riverhead has built a reputation on quality, service, and a large, accessible inventory,” Contractor Express President Bob Lucas said in announcing the agreement. “They understand the importance of good people taking good care of customers. These values have been central to the success of Contractor Express for the past 45 years. There is a strong alignment between our companies.”

Riverhead Building Supply President John Callahan said the acquisition will allow the company to build upon Contractor Express’ longstanding presence on Long Island.

“Contractor Express is a strong company with a loyal customer base that values its expertise, dependable service, and commitment to getting it right the first time,” Callahan said. “We are excited to welcome Contractor Express to our team and build on the strong legacy of the Lucas family.”

Callahan added that the acquisition will strengthen Riverhead Building Supply’s ability to serve the Nassau County market while being supported by Contractor Express’ existing employees.

Following completion of the transition, Lucas plans to retire after a 48-year career in the lumber and building materials industry.

The transaction is expected to close in September 2026, subject to completion of due diligence.
