Hicksville/Port Jeff NY
Over the weekend, a Long Island Railroad train hit and killed a resident who lived nearby.
According to the MTA, Tyshawn R. Hunter, a 22-year-old resident of Port Jefferson Station in Suffolk County, was hit at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, March 24 near the Hicksville Station in Nassau County.
MTA officials reported that the event took place in an area not allowed for pedestrians, located to the west of the Hicksville station.
At first, there was a halt in service from Mineola to Hicksville Stations.
An investigation was carried out at the scene by the supervision team of the LIRR along with the MTA police and EMS.
The investigation on location was completed at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 25th. Train services resumed operating on or near their regular schedules.
The inquiry regarding the occurrence is still in progress.
