A quiet morning in North Bellmore turned tragic on Thursday, November 6, when Jayden Flores, a 14-year-old student at Wellington C. Mepham High School, was fatally struck by an SUV while riding his e-bike to school. The collision occurred around 7:05 a.m. at the intersection of Alice Avenue and Bellmore Avenue, a residential area frequented by students and commuters.

According to Nassau County Police, Jayden was traveling westbound on Alice Avenue when a Chevrolet SUV, driven by a 45-year-old woman heading south on Bellmore Avenue, collided with him. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and rushing outside to find the teen lying on a front lawn. A nearby resident attempted CPR before emergency responders arrived.
Jayden was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon.
