Fatal Crash on Turnpike in West Hempstead Claims Child's Life, Injures Five Others
On Monday, August 7th, in West Hempstead, as confirmed by Nassau County Police, an event unfolded. Roughly at 2:20 a.m., the driver of a 2005 Nissan SUV was reportedly driving at a high speed along the turnpike, traveling eastbound.
In the vicinity of Westminster Road, the SUV collided with an unoccupied Toyota Corolla.
The car contained three occupants, with two individuals standing outside. Despite this, all five individuals from the car and the Nissan's driver were transported to local hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries.
Katerine Vanegas-Hernandez, a 6-year-old girl from West Hempstead, was declared deceased by hospital personnel.
The investigation is still in progress.
