A burglar broke into a home in a gated community on Long Island while a nanny and two children were present.

Within a gated community in Long Island, an intruder broke into a household with two children and a nanny present.

Nassau County Police reported that an occurrence took place at a residence located on Links Drive South in North Hills, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.

According to detectives, the homeowner was at a restaurant when he received a call from his nanny informing him that the rear entrance had been shattered. The police stated that neither the children nor the babysitter heard the door being broken.

Upon the homeowner's arrival, he realized that his safe had been taken, and fortunately, no one suffered any injuries during the burglary.

The police have requested that anyone with relevant information related to the case can contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or report it by dialing 911. The confidentiality of all calls will be maintained.
