Farmingville Man Arrested Wednesday After Crashing Stolen Car on the LIE

A 20-year-old Farmingville man was arrested early Wednesday morning after for allegedly racing a stolen vehicle on the LIE while he was driving while intoxicated. 

Highway Patrol Officers observed several vehicles traveling eastbound on the Long Island Expressway near exit 60 in Ronkonkoma, traveling more than 90 mph at approximately 2:15 a.m. The officers activated lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, when one of the drivers a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lost control of the car and left the roadway striking the barrier along the expressway. The driver of the vehicle 20-year-old Nicholas Mulligan fled the scene, and was apprehended along the side of the road at 2:15 a.m. 

Mulligan, 20, of Farmingville, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs 1st Degree, Reckless Driving Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Resisting Arrest. He was released from the Hospital, and was transported to the Sixth Precinct where he was held overnight prior to his first Court Appearance which was scheduled for December 18, at the First District Court in Central Islip.
