Brooklyn Man Arrested Tuesday After Police Allege He Seriously Injured a Pedestrian in Patchogue Earlier This Month

Suffolk County Police arrested a 20-year-old Brooklyn Man Tuesday morning after he allegedly seriously injured a pedestrian in Patchogue during a car meet earlier this month. A 19-year-old Holbrook woman was watching a car meet at the Gateway Plaza in Patchogue on October 6 when she was struck by an Infiniti Sedan at 1:15 am.

The woman was transported by private vehicle to South Side Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

Following an investigation, Fifth Squad Detectives arrested Matthew Mitchell of Kew Gardens on October 15 at 11:40 am. Mitchell was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident resulting in serious injury, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree.

He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court on October 15.
