4 People killed in Deer Park Crash after Alleged Drunk Driver Slams through Business

ur people were killed Friday afternoon after an alleged drunk driver plowed through a nail salon filled with employees and customers. Steven Schwally, 64, of Dix Hills was operating a 2020 Chevy Traverse when he sped through the parking lot Southbound, and then crossed over Grand Boulevard and continued through the parking lot when he crashed his vehicle through the window of Hawaii Nail and Spa at approximately 4:32 p.m. The spa was open and was conducting business with customers at the time.

Three woman and a man were killed at the scene. The Four people were killed in the crash including, Jiancai Chen, 37 of Bayside Queens, Emilia Rennback 30, Deer Park, Yan Xu, 41, of Flushing Queens, and Meizi Zhang 50, of Flushing Queens.

Nicole Miele 54, of Dix Hills, Ana Garcia 53, of Bay Shore, Wen Jun Cheng 35 of Bayside Queens, and Michael Michale 58 of Deer Park are all being treated at area hospitals for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Carlos Garcia 23, of Bay Shore, Toni Saccente 32, of West Islip, Krystal Rodriguez 37, of Bay Shore, and Nicole Saccente 55, from Cape Coral Florida, and a 12-year-old girl whose identity is being withheld, were all treated at local hospitals for their injuries.

Schwally was arrested at the scene and remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been charged with Driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned at a later date.

The investigation is continuing, and detectives are asking anyone to with information to call the Major Case Unit at, 631-851-6555.
