Passenger Killed in Centereach Car Accident Saturday Night Identified
Suffolk County Police identified the woman who was killed in a motor vehicle accident Saturday night in Centereach. 73-year-old Marion Napolitano who was homeless,was the passenger, was killed when a teenager high on drugs driving a stolen Land Rover LR-2 crashed into the sedan she was a passenger in on Middle Country in Centereach.
The teen, who was high on drugs, fled the scene, and was captured by an off-duty Suffolk Police officer a short distance away from the accident scene. The driver, and passenger of the sedan were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where the Driver is being treated for serious injuries, and his passenger, Ms. Napolitano was pronounced dead.
Officers from the Suffolk County Alcohol Fatality Enforcement Team charged the teen, whose name is being withheld do to his age, with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs 1st Degree,and Major Case Squad Detectives charged the Teen with leaving the scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree.
The teen who was being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct, had his first court date scheduled on May 5, at the Suffolk County District Court’s Youth Part in Central Islip.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this accident to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-655.
