Suffolk County First Precinct officers arrested 30 year old Matthew Matheis of Babylon for several burglaries and a burglary in progress Wednesday night in Lindenhurst. First precinct patrol officers responded to the Casual Foot Spa which is located at 200 Montauk highway, and observed a burglary in progress, with the front window smashed in, and the alarm sounding. Inside patrol officers Matheis burglarizing the store, and took him into custody approximately 1030 pm.
Following an initial investigation, Detectives charges Matheis with two counts of burglary 3rd degree, two counts of attempted burglary, four counts criminal mischief 3rd degree, and possession of burglar tools. He's scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on January 25.
Matheis is has also been charged in connection with several other burglarizes in the area including:
- Burglary: The Health Spa, located at 761 Deer Park Avenue, North Babylon January 23, at approximately 9pm.
- Attempted Burglary: The Laundry Room, located at 143 Route 109 West Babylon, on January 23, at approximately 6:50 am.
- Attempted Burglary: The Casual Foot Spa, located at 200 Montauk Highway Lindenhurst, on January 24, at approximately 3:10 am.
- Attempted Burglary: The Causal Foot Spa, located at 200 Montauk Highway Lindenhurst on January 24 at 10:35 p.m.
