Fatality reported in Bay Shore collision on Montauk Highway
Bayshore, NY
According to the police, a crash on Montauk Highway in Bay Shore resulted in one fatality.
Authorities report receiving a call about the incident near Gardiner Drive around 10:15 a.m.
According to the police, two white sedans collided, with the impact being so intense that the vehicles became entangled.
This led to the closure of Montauk Highway near Gardner Park in both directions for several hours.
In that area of the roadway, there are no stop signs or streetlights for approximately a mile.
Local residents are expressing that drivers should exercise caution and reduce their speed.
Rachael Herth from Bay Shore expressed, "Regrettably, this is not the first instance.
Perhaps not as severe, but we've had cases of cars hitting the fence or colliding with the poles before."
The police have not yet disclosed the identities of the individuals who lost their lives in the crash.
